µ-CTE™ accessories/spares

The Micro-chamber/Thermal Extractor (μ-CTE) is a convenient tool for monitoring vapour profiles and emissions froma wide range of samples. It offers fast screening of VOC/sVOC emissions for quality control of a variety of materials including construction products, electronic components, furnishings and car trim components.

The micro-chamber is compatible with a variety of materials including polymers, textiles, paints/resins, food stuffs and building materials. Generally, samples are weighed directly into an empty chamber or custom made ‘sample boat’ which is placed into the chamber itself. However, a range of accessories is available for various sample types. These include:

• Sample spacers for surface emissions testing: Sample spacers (15/5/1.5 mm, supplied with the μ-CTE) may be used to raise the test speciment within each micro-chamber until the surface is touching a circular collar that projects down from the lid. This minimises edge effects and creates a well defined and reproducible gas volume above each test specimen whatever its thickness.
  
  
• PTFE Discs: A pack of 1 mm PTFE discs is available for use with sticky or resinous samples such as adhesives, pastes, etc. Using the PTFE disc ensures that the chambers are kept clean during sampling. The discs may be re-used depending on the nature of the samples.
  
  
• Inserts for Liquid Standards: A pack of PTFE inserts is available for use with small volume (<1 mL) liquid samples and standards.
  
  
• Permeation Accessory: Used in conjunction with the μ-CTE to monitor the permeability of a variety of materials including: food
  packaging; vehicle seat coverings; membranes; protective clothing; latex gloves etc.
